The BMW M135i is the second most potent vehicle of the F20 generation, just behind the M140i. When launched in 2012, the M135i was offered with a 315 bhp 3.0L 6 cylinder engine before the power was upped to 322 a few years later.
Our development car is the earlier 315 bhp model. Although, when tested on the dyno it made 297 bhp and 468 N•m. The target now was to get back up to the claimed power figures whilst preparing the car for additional tuning.
Stock, the intake temps on the M135i where 35°C. Not especially high, but we know they can always be improved. To do this, we developed an Intercooler using our revolutionary ‘Multi Vane Technology’.
Put to the task, our designers created a stepped intercooler core, 42% larger than stock. On top of this, after evaluating the flow from various model simulations we opted for a quad vane arrangement in the charge air end tank.
With our MVT Intercooler installed intake temperatures where down to 22.5°C a drop of 12.5°C compared to stock, a great result providing a fantastic basis for other modifications. With supporting mods and an ecu remap the power from our BMW M135i was upped to 418 bhp. Despite the increase in power and the extra stresses exerted on the car, MVT helped intake temps remain below stock!
Our Cold Air Induction Kit for the BMW M135i, designed to significantly enhance air flow into the vehicles 3.0L N55 engine produced some stunning numbers when tested on the dyno. An increase of 14 bhp and 18 N•m bringing the M135i’s power up to 311 bhp with torque now at 486 N•m.
